YAPA Kitchen Holiday Wine Tasting Calendar 2009             

 

Welcome to our 2009 Holiday Wine Tasting and Cooking Class Series.  We are offering a variety of food and wine classes designed to teach and to entertain.  Our classes will fill up quickly, so make your reservations early.  It’s easy.  Just call our West U Store at 713-664-9272 or come by the store to pay in advance with a check or credit card and we’ll hold a place for you in the kitchen!  For a complete refund, you must give a 48 hour notice of cancellation otherwise, only 50% will be refunded.  These classes are great for birthdays, anniversaries or gifts for friends who love good food and wine.  All classes are led by YAPA’s own, Mark Lewis and will start promptly at 7:30 at our West University location, and will last two hours.

 

 

December 1.  Nouveau Beaujolais.  Here is the perfect holiday party wine.  Inexpensive, a great cocktail and delicious with appetizers and cheese.  Let’s get the holiday season started with some of our most requested YAPA party appetizers and this fresh and juicy  French wine.  $25

 

December 2.  California DreamingSeafood and Chardonnay.   Come taste the next generation of great California Chardonnay.  We will be serving these precious pearls with some of our best YAPA Kitchen seafood creations:  YAPA Tea Smoked Salmon, Santa Barbara Tuna Tartar, and Tilapia with Lima Crab and Shrimp stuffing.  $75

 

December 3.  New Zealand:  Surf and Turf.  Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir have made New Zealand a new millenium wonder for food and wine.  We will serve some of my favorite Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noirs paired with New Zealand Lamb and the treasures of the sea from the southern hemisphere .  $50

 

December 8.  Champagne and Chocolate.  Just getting started with your wine tasting experience with Champagne?  Let us help.  We will taste some fabulous bubbles and then serve them with some of my favorite chocolate desserts.  You’ll know why the French have been enjoying this combination for hundreds of years!  $75

 

December 9.  Dessert Wines and Ports.  France, California and Italy have some of the greatest cuisine in the world and wine is a part of all great meals.  Join us as we explore delicious, rich and exciting wines that are the perfect conclusion to a great meal.  Dessert wines also make an elegant gift for the gourmand in your life.  $50.

 

December 10.  Chateauneuf du Pape.  One of the great French wines that is perfect with holiday fare.  This regal French gem will be served with our famous YAPA Beef Wellington.  Chocolate Sacher Torte for dessert!  Come taste these holiday classics.  $75

 

December 15.  California Cabernet.  Glamorous dinner parties need the elegance and finesse of California Cabernet.  Join us for an evening of our favorite “dinner party” cabernets.  The best part is that these wines are available here in Houston and won’t break the bank. $75

 

 

December 16. The Pinot Noir Challenge .  France versus California.  If you love Pinot Noir like I do, then you don’t want to miss this Burgundy challenge.  Recent vintages have been very good in both France and California.  We will be blind tasting these wines.  We will be tasting them with Wild Mushroom Risotto.  $65.

 

December 17.  Champagne and Caviar.  New Year’s Eve is just around the corner.  If you are looking for elegance and sophistication, then join us for the ultimate luxury.  We will taste both California and classical French champagnes.  We will match these bubbles with very fine caviar from the Caspian Sea and domestic caviar from the United States.  $125.

 

December 18.  Truffles and Bordeaux and Truffles.  Viva la France!  Come celebrate the holidays in Parisian style.  We will serve a three course dinner featuring the savory and the sweet French delicacies, truffles, paired with some outstanding French Bordeaux.  Space is limited.  $150.

 

December 29.  The Newest Big Red of Italy.  Visions of Brunello dancing in your head?  Come join us for an enjoyable and memorable tasting of Italy’s newest shining star, Brunello di Montalcino.  I’ll be cooking a delicious Holiday Italiano Menu to accompany the wines.  Space is limited.  $125

 

December 30. BV George Latour Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Vertical Tasting.  Treat yourself to an opportunity to taste the history of the Napa Valley found in this California gem.  We will taste five vintages .   If you love Napa Valley Cabs, you won’t want to miss this spectacular tasting.  Space is limited.  $125.
